Arun Gupta does a great presentation at GreenJUG, and we kick off SouthEastLinuxFest on Friday.
On the road again. Thursday night I attended GreenJUG in Greenville, South Carolina to see Arun Gupta's EE6 presentation. I've known Arun for a while now, but I've always been working a booth or doing Java.net business while he was speaking, so this is my first time seeing him in action.
He started with a quick review of the history of Java releases and what the "themes" were for each. Then he opened NetBeans, gave a brief tour, and then started writing code, answering questions as he went. He started with HelloWorld and quickly moved into details about things like JPA and JSF2.0. He said he'll be posting the code in his blog, so keep an eye out for it if you're interested.
Starting at noon Friday I'll be attending SouthEastLinuxFest. OTN has a table, which will be manned by Todd Trichler, although I may drop in. I'm here off the clock and will be attending sessions. I don't get to do that very often. There are several community track sessions I'm looking forward to on Friday and Saturday, and then Sunday will be a Drupal marathon. I don't know much about the inner workings of Drupal, but it's high time I figured it out (since it is the backbone of half of this site). I'm excited about having some time to really dive into it.
