For those who are interested, I ported phoneME Advanced to Android 2.1/2.2 and made the
builds available on my website:
Terrence Barr and Hinkmond Wong already blogged about this port:
I probably should tell that the builds are far from perfect (YMMV), but I can run some popular
midlets (e.g. Opera Mini) and console applications (e.g. OSGi Equinox) in the Android emulator
(No thorough testing, as I don't have an Android device).
Each apk package holds the phoneME VM and a Android GUI frontend wrapper. Although not
tested, I think the CLDC, CDC and Foundation packages will work on Android 2.1. The
Foundation Profile + MIDP stack requires Android 2.2 due to some new native bitmap APIs in
Android 2.2. Before you install, make sure you read the documentation on the web page.
The hacks I applied to the phoneME Advanced sources are also available as a diff file. For
those who want to compile from sources, make sure you can compile Android itself first,
as you need the native Android libraries to link against when building the phoneME VM.
