I really think the kernel installer has potential but there are two things I don't understand.
1. Why does the Kernel installer wizard not ask the user to restart his browser when the initial kernel + browser plugin is deployed? (it does not work if you don' t do that..)
2. Why does the Installer (updater?) not immediately start downloading the rest of the jre silently (maybe in system tray) instead of waiting for the first applet/jnlp?
In best case the whole jre is already installed before the user starts browsing, in worst case it is behaving like now and continuing to download stuff on demand ;-)
Also some users (demonduck) complained about the installer being not solid enough
what may be partly solved with the points above.
I also tried the installer and had to retry to load my rather complex* applet 3 times before it ran the first time (since than it worked always even after clearing the cash).
