I am creating a .JSP file (initially it is .jsp for testing, but it is actually going to be a .asp file) which loads an applet onto the browser from a .jar file. The .jar file is 3MB.
My problem now is that, I do not want to load the .jar file every time the client access the .jsp page. Instead I need to download it for the first time itself into the client machine. And load the applet from the client machine the next time the client access the .jsp page.
How do I know that the client is accessing the applet for the first time or not?
If I change the version number, then the .jsp file should be able to download the new .jar file into the client machine.
Please tell me if it is possible to do this. Any please guide me to the right direction.
