Don't know if this is the right place to put the question in, but then again, that realy is the point.
My concern is how many JAI users there are? Or rather, is there a future for JAI? Will or has it reached the critical mass that any technology needs to survive and make it to the mainstream, instead of becoming an obscurity or niche? In my view only mainstream technology is worth using if one does not have the resouces to maintain and develop the the technology itself.
I like the functionality that JAI provides, especially, tiled, multiresolution images with pull model with hardware acceleration, yet being able to function in 100% pure Java mode. Just what I need, but before I commit myself I need to feel that the technology is not only alive but also going somewhere and that it will keep uptodate with ever changing hardware and operating system landscape, as I for sure do not have the resources to do that.
Any takers on this subject?
