I'm happy to announce the availability of the JAXB 2.1 specification and the JAXB RI 2.1 FCS (FCS="first customer ship.") This is a release, not an early access, so it means we passed all the tests, TCKs, and the bugs that I know of are fixed.
I've been blogging about the list of proposed 2.1 features , as well as details of individual features, like separate compilation .
If you'll be using JAXB 2.1 with JDK6, you'll have to use the endorsed directory mechanism to override JAXB 2.0 API in JDK with JAXB 2.1 API (this can be done by either a system property — normal — or putting the jar in a certain pre-defined directory — rare.)
As usual, the jars are also in the maven repository .
