Numerous problems with NetBeans 7.2

Since upgrading from 7.1 to 7.2 a few months ago I have been having terrible problems.

First of all the new version takes very much longer to start up, contrary to the update information. I think this may be to do with the fact that I keep about a dozen projects open all the time, the main one of which has 196 classes. It would be too cumbersome for me to only open one at a time when needed.

But there are much more irritating things happening. A frequent one is that a line can be marked with a red error mark but Ctrl-space brings a yellow warning message up, masking the real error. The warning message is also usually something quite obscure or trivial, such as advice to separate declaration and assignment into 2 statements. There seems to be no way I can find out what the more important error is. I reported this formally as a bug but it was soon closed again by the maintenance team with the report "cannot reproduce".

Things got worse with an automatic upgrade last month. Since then, for example, I have been unable to use the "Find usages" tool - it always reports 0 occurences.

Is anyone else having similar problems? Any ideas about what to do? Go back to 7.1 seems to be the best option, if I still can, because that worked fine.
