Rendezvous question

Hi all,

The question is simple. I have a network with 1 rendezvous peer and 2 edge peers. Both edge peers publish their own peerAdvertisements, but when they try to get remote advertisements they only can find the rendedezvous advertisement and their own one (the other edge peer seems to be invisible). I've seen the same question in older posts, but the answers are not clear.

Is there a way for the Rendezvous to propagate the advertisements it discovers? i thought it would do it automatically, but I was wrong. Did i miss something in the peer configuration (edge or rendezvous)?

Thank you very much in advance.

hi dear Mr. or Miss
i am puzzled by the blanks which are in the configure window that appears at the first time you run a jxseshell.
how to configure RDVs Settings and Relay Settings correctly then i can find relay seed or RDVs?
waiting for reply.

Hi,

Few years ago there was a list with rendezvous and relay peers to allow personal applications work with full network operability. Nowadays these peers don't work (I don't know why), but if you want to try JXTA "locally" (I mean multiple peers at the same machine only to see how does it work) I would advise to implement a rendezvous peer in your net with a static listening port and put that address in the shell blank spaces.

The code to make a rendezvous peer is quite simple. Configure the NetworkManager with a static port/address to listen. Start the network, get the rendezvous service from NetworkManager and start it...

If you want to connect with peers out of your local network you must implement a relay peer, but I don't know 100% how does it works. I suppose that you must to know at least one relay peer outside and hardcode its address in the local relay (or maybe code a way to discover relay peers?). Afterwards you must set the local relay peer in your local peers as we made with the rendezvous peer.

I hope this will be helpful. Bye!

ok, forget it.

It was my fault. Since I started the rendezvous, the edge peers were too fast to allow the former to publish their advertisements.

The solution: wait few seconds.

Thank you very much anyway. Bye!
