Hello,

The built-in heap dumper always crashes JDK b110.
The problem is always reproducible (see steps below).
As far as I remember, there was no problem with b107.

How to reproduce (tested on Windows XP and Vista):

- start /bin/jconsole.exe
- connect to itself
- MBeans -> com.sun.management.HotSpotDiagnostic -> Operations -> dumpHeap

=> Windows will show an error dialog which offers to close the crashed application

No hs_err_*.log is created.

This is not a jconsole-specific problem. Same crash when using HotSpotDiagnostic programmatically, or using jmap -dump

It's interesting that the dump file seems to be successfully created before the crash happens.

Best regards,
Anton

I would suggest submitting a bug asap on this. Make sure it make it clear that it's a regression in a recent build.

Hello Alan

Of course I had submitted a bug request first, but unfortunately there was no reply, not even a "Thank you for submitting, review ID is..." email which as far as I remember used to arrive almost immediately after posting bug reports. That's why I decided to report the bug here too, to ensure it would not be lost.

Best regards,
Anton
