Hello

I am using LWUIT to develop ZXING application which stops taking video when video come across with a QR code. I have seen j2me codes for zxing. Unforunately I found out that I cannot use some codes coz Canvas has been used a lot which LWUIT has no canvas. You have sample codes for LWUIT users to stop gettting video when camera saw a QRCode? I will be appreciated if you can provide me a sample code or tips for that. Thank you so much from now.

Cheers Altaico

with today's tech it's easier than ever to read QR Code, multiple apps in the iOS family allows you to do it, same with android, even blackberry has a built in QR reader. we've been doing barcode stuff for some time, if you want we can help you out.

You need to use a MediaComponent instead of the canvas and embed the MMAPI Player into that. I understood some other people in the forum used ZXING with LWUIT but I haven't tried it myself.

Hi,

>From my experience (with zxing as well), java cannot be used for
real-time image processing. It will take several seconds (more than 10
secs) just to process a still snapshot, due to low processing power of
java (you need to use native code, hardware optimized for that). Java
architecture is to provide such functionality via API (JSR). For
barcode recognition there is a special JSR, but only few devices
supports it.

Also, you need to consider camera hardware limitation - the camera
must support short focus mode ("macro" mode) to shot barcode at short
distance. But video is usually taken in "normal" mode, so no barcode
can be recognized. It is camera hardware (on video chip level)
limitation, so nothing can be done even in native code.
