Hi,
I finally got my copy of Practical JXTA II, I had read most of its chapters, and its wonderful, good example, and good explanation of network architecture which is really really important to understand connectivity, and very straight forward, it is not too much in detail, but good for beginners and intermediate, and finally I got something which is latest…..

thanks

Hi Sharike,

Thanks for the feedback, I am really happy that you liked the book. I tried to make it the best possible introduction to JXTA and P2P in general.

For those looking for advanced topics, please see the 2.6 Programmer's Guide available at http://jxse.kenai.com. It contains a chapter describing what is happening under the hood.

Cheers,

Jérôme (a.k.a. AdamMan71)

Hi Shaikh,

I have the first book, and am waiting on the second edition. I think it is the best book on JXTA that there currently is. In itself this does not have to be a recommendation, as the previous books were outdated almost the minute they were released.
I hope that Jérôme has managed to capture the main changes in JXSE 2.6 and has kept all that is worthwhile from the previous 2.5 version, but JXTA has been quite a moving target in the past years, and I hope that with the current work on JXSE we finally maybe heading to a mature framework for P2P applications. The documentation can at best only follow the developments of the platform.

Hope this helps

Kees

thanks Keesp, I already order Practical JXTA II, and in this case it will good to be first to give review on second edition, I am also reading platform documentation and they are good, but I need something with more explanation and code examples cover latest JXTA version, I have some other books, but they are already outdated, so I am looking with practical jxta 2.
comments are welcome

Hi Sharique,

AdamMan71 = The author of Practical JXTA II = the lead for the 2.6 release = Jérôme Verstrynge.

To follow-up on Kees' comment, yes, I have updated examples to match the 2.6 release. I have also rewritten and/or updated several chapters to simplify them where need be and to make them more clear sometimes. I have corrected some typos and significantly improved the examples about connectivity, now that I have a much better understanding of what is happening under the hood. We have also corrected a lurking bug for peers behind NAT in 2.5.

Practical JXTA II will also be available on Amazon in a couple of weeks, but the process takes some time.

Don't hesitate if you have questions.

Cheers !

hi AdamMan
It’s fantastic, what else any one need for JXTA, a wonderful JXTA protocol, fantastic book, and supportive Author on JXTA community.
I am doing job and simultaneously working on a serious academic project using JXTA, which If I complete successfully then I will make available to community, but for now I am struggling with development with JXTA, and that’s why I order Practical JXTA 2, so that I can develop application for tomorrow with batter understanding of protocol architecture, I think if you adamMan and whole JXTA community help me, then I will definitely get success,
I am still awaiting for Book to arrive, I am excited about it…
thanks
