Home Network Box with No DVR. How do you build this configuration?

For a Home Network box with no DVR, It looks as though dvr needs to be included in the build (build.ocap.DVR_ENABLED=true) for a variety of build dependencies.

Are these dependencies unavoidable?

As a plan B for such a box DVR functionality needs to be built in but switched off, java/src/dvr/dvr.properties seems the right place but the contents seem insufficient to define no DVR functionality at all. Is there some way to achieve this?

Can I check that this is scheduled for the REL C build? (The timing would suggest so)

Yes, these changes will not be completed for the 1.1.4 Rel-B on July 22nd. We will target them for Rel-C, which has not been scheduled yet.

At present, the dependencies of HN on DVR are unavoidable, and I know of no way to achieve what you want. Changes to the code base to support a DVR-free HN build are fairly extensive. We have, however, made many of them in the HN.without.DVR branch, and hope to be able to merge it back in to the trunk in a month or so. Once that is done, it will be possible to build with DVR_ENABLED=false and HN_ENABLED=true. Sorry for the delay.
