J3DWorkbench runtime as a Java 3D application framework
Following each release of J3DWorkbench, I take a moment and remind forum users that the J3DWorkbench runtime framework adresses many Java 3D technical challenges or shortcomings, such as:
complex navigation transforms
extended scenegraph event-handling
The runtime framework is a lightweight, service-based, wrapper hierachy covering most of the Java 3D Node types. Check out a brief presentation here: http://eclectic3d.net/sites/default/files/J3DWorkbench.ppt.
Even if you don't use the SWT-based "rich" J3DWorkbench GUI to build a Java 3D scene, the runtime API is worth a look; in the 4 years it took to develop, it may have solved a problem shared by many users who go about building Java 3D apps 'from scratch'.
