Hi,

I'm new to JXTA and I'm experiencing some trouble to start my first application. When I try to connect to a rendezvous peer I go the following errors :

Apr 14, 2010 4:17:23 PM net.jxta.impl.util.URISeedingManager refreshActiveSeeds
WARNING: Failed loading seeding list from : http://rdv.jxtahosts.net/cgi-bin/relays.cgi?3
Apr 14, 2010 4:17:24 PM net.jxta.impl.util.URISeedingManager refreshActiveSeeds
WARNING: Failed loading seeding list from : http://rdv.jxtahosts.net/cgi-bin/rendezvous.cgi?3

I tried to access those two address with my web browser and both are not accessible. It's obviously not related to any proxy configuration. So I would like to know if the address has been changed.

Thank your for any help you can provide.

Best regards,
Thomas Pasquier

No specification ?

http://rdv.jxtahosts.net/cgi-bin/rendezvous.cgi?3 was simply a rendez-vous point as any other ? Or did it provide a list ? If so what was the format of that list ?

It was a set of route advertisments to RDVs. You can either provide a set of endpoint addresses in the NetworkConfigurator, or you can provide a URL to a set of route advertisements (or TCP HTTP endpoint addresses). More information available in the Javadoc.

Hello, have you known how to make a seeding url for your own project? I am new to JXTA, and has trouble on this problem, for I want to practice on the shell but my PC is under the NAT...........

Hi,

Those URLs are dead, unfortunately. You would have to set up your own rendezvous in order to get your application working or you could use the local subnet for multicasting(the last one is more restrictive).

That url pointed to a Rendezvous or it was some kind of xml containing a list of available Rendezvous ?

In order to enable to provide my service on the internet, I need to setup a permanent Rendezvous point.

Can any peer run as an edge and a rendezvous at the same time ?

It was a list of available RDVs.

A rendezvous is a type of edge performing extra operations within its group for the group's benefit. But a peer operates either as an edge or as a rendezvous. It can flip-flop its role dynamically if configured so.

I advise you to read the programmer's guide available at: http://jxse.kenai.com/Developers/Developers.html.

Cheers,

Jérôme

What was the format of that list ? If there is any specification about it ?

If it's a simple xml or stuff like that, it may be possible to set up a new one.

Hi,

Reading the forum it seems to be an issue since 2007...

If it's don't work should I have to set Rendezvous seed right ? This one pointing to an existing Rendezvous node (IP address of that Rendezvous).
