Will a plugin function as designed in a component instead of a module? When will it actually execute? At installation time? At module startup time?

morrisford,

I think the client plugins get executed as soon as you click the login button on the client dialog on launch. I'm not sure how you would integrate a plugin into a component. Are we thinking of different things perhaps? As far as I can tell, a component needs a cell to execute within. Server side plugins I'm guessing start up when the darkstar server starts up with the same general idea as the client side, componentMO classes need a CellMO to attach to thus completing the wfs family.

hope this helps,
jW

I am putting a plugin inside a component so the timing of when it fires is probably different.

Morris, what do you mean by "inside a component"? Do you mean that the component implements the ClientPlugin interface? Or do you mean you are including a class that implements ClientPlugin in a Wonderland module that includes a component?

In either case, Jagwire is correct -- the client plugin executes after the module is downloaded, before the client launches. It shouldn't matter what class the plugin is part of, or how it is packaged.
