Problems with GFv3 and OSGI Web bundle

Hello!

I`m trying to deploy simplest web app with JSF2 and Primefaces.
I`ts same error occurred with Icefaces 2.0 A2.

I`m building my war`s with maven.

Then i`m deploying sample war build with maven-bundle-plugin
my application can`t work normal. I`m receiving error
"Warning: This page calls for XML namespace
http://primefaces.prime.com.tr/ui declared with prefix p but no
taglibrary exists for that namespace."

and when i`m building app without maven-bundle-plugin
my app is staring ok and working.

The difference between both war`s - couple lines in MANIFEST.MF.

Sahoo, can you find couple minutes to see attached archives
and try to do some test`s ?

Thank you!

There are issues with your application. Fix them like this:

javax.*, org.*,
com.sun.faces.*

*;scope=compile|runtime;inline=false;artifactId=!jsf-impl|servlet-api|jstl

Thanks,
Sahoo

Hello,

this has really helped. Thank you!

There is another question: if I include some jars into the bundle I am getting the following messages in the log (and bundle is not deployed/started at all):

[#|2010-03-26T10:05:45.256+0100|SEVERE|glassfishv3.0|javax.enterprise.system.tools.deployment.org.glassfish.deployment.common|_ThreadID=11;_ThreadName=Thread-1;|Unknow type constant pool -23 at position46|#]

I have read somewhere, that the class files cannot be properly read. In a case of deployment the same jars inside a simple war file as a traditional web application, they can be easily accessed and do not make such troubles.

With best regards,
Michael Shtelma

Sahoo

Please try to use a new thread for reporting new issues. This thread has
already grown a lot bigger to manage.

It is not clear to me what you meant by "bundle is not deployed/started
at all" and what relationship it had with the log message. Are you
suspecting the bundle not starting has anything to do with the reason
behind that message?

From the log message it appears to me that some code is trying to parse
byte codes and is not able to handle all the scenarios. That can happen
when one is expecting class file format version x and the class file is
actually written to a version greater than x. Again, without more
details I can't say who is doing it and what effect it has on the over
all application. Attach a debugger and see if you can something. From
the logger name it is clear that it is deployment subsystem that's
producing the message. As I said, start a new thread in the forum when
you encounter a new issue.

Thanks,
Sahoo

Hello!

At first approach it seems to work now with trunk.
I will try to do some additional testing.

Thank you.

Hello,

here is one more important thing that is not working,
if I add the following library, the deployer cannot process the TLD inside it.

org.icefaces
icepush
2.0-A2

This is really bad news for me.
This bug is doing useless gfv3 for JSF2 development in OSGI enviroment.

I have tested your bundle. The message is coming from JSF layer. I am
contacting appropriate folks to get to the bottom of the issue. Can you

Hi Pavel,

As you would have noticed from my updates in issue tracker, I got past
the issue of discovery of various JSF config files, so all the
taglib/namespace URIs are found. Then I hit the issue about discovery of
JSF annotated beans. I have not made a lot of progress about it, as I
left for vacation. Can you work around this issue by temporraily
mentioning the bean details in faces-config.xml files?

Please also note that I found an issue with the OSGi metadata of your
test case - there was a missing import. I mentioned about it in issue
tracker as well.

Thanks,
Sahoo

Hello, Sahoo!

Just updated my server to GF3 v8 and same problem with namespace.

"Warning: This page calls for XML namespace
http://primefaces.prime.com.tr/ui declared with prefix p but no
taglibrary exists for that namespace."

Pavel,

You probably meant v3u1 b08. That's not going to work, for the fix has
gone into trunk where the next scheduled release is going to be GF v3.1.
Try using a build from trunk and let me know if it does not work. Use a
SNAPSHOT if there is no promoted build on trunk. I don't think I can fix
these bugs in Gfv3_u1, because the release criteria for update#1 does
not permit me.

Thanks,
Sahoo

There is no promoted build on the trunk. You can try the latest nightly
build:
http://download.java.net/glassfish/v3.1/nightly/latest-glassfish.zip
or
http://download.java.net/glassfish/v3.1/nightly/latest-web.zip

Thanks,
Jane

Hello

I am also experiencing problems when deploying WAB containing JSF.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

I have tried the same application with nightly build, now at least there is an exception in log. As far as I understand it is smth about the injection of a bean created by a producer

Hello,

I have attached the test project. It is working if built as a normal WAR, but fails if built as a WAB. I have managed to deploy as a WAB the same application, but without icefaces. So pure JSF with composite components are working quite good as a WAB as well.

There is also other question, are there a roadmap for the GF 3.1 available? I am interested in possible release dates.

Thanks in advance :)

With best regards,
Michael Shtelma

Hello Sahoo,

Are there any good news about this issue?

Best Regards,
Michael Shtelma

Sahoo

I am actually traveling and hardly had any time to look into this. I
will try to find some time to look into it and get back. I was not sure
if you still had issues, because I saw someone recommending not to do
certain things in the app. So, I assumed that addressed your issue as
well. I guess I was wrong.

Thanks,
Sahoo
