I am attempting to make an https connection to a URL like https://mycompany.com.

When I invoke the URL constructor, the simulator throws a MalformedURLException, saying "unknown protocol: https".

Can the simulator handle https connections? Is there any extra configuration necessary beyond the default setup in order to enable https connections?

I assume that https connections can succeed without any certificate(s) installed, similar to how, by default, the simulator doesn't require signing to request network access. Is that accurate?

This appears to be a bug - and a somewhat thorny one at that (due to export restrictions on cryptography, etc.). Please reference Issue Tracker #124 - https://ocap-ri.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=124 for further information.

Unfortunately, we have not found a JSSE implementation that is license-compatible with our use of the open source GPL phoneME JVM. If you have any suggestions or ideas we haven't thought of, please feel free to bring them to our attention.

Sorry for the delayed response... We _believe_ that https should be supported. If you have a simple example it might speed things up.
