Java EE 6 First Cup tutorial problems with IE8

Hi, I just ran through the EE 6 First Cup tutorial http://java.sun.com/javaee/6/docs/firstcup/doc/p2.html to check out some of the new features in EE 6. Following the steps in the tutorial was pretty straightforward as you'd expect but I can't get it to run. I'm using NetBeans 6.8, Glassfish v3 and internet explorer 8 on Windows 7.

The app seems to deploy ok but when my default browser (IE8) starts it's trying to download the greeting.xhtml welcome file rather than run it, A security warning messages is shown by IE saying "Do you want to save the file, or find a program online to open it?" and that's as far as I can get.

Having had a look about on google there seems to be a slightly horrifying suggestion that IE doesn't support xhtml at the moment.

Errrrm, can this be right? does this mean that JSF 2.0 is incompatible with the browser used by slightly more than half the market share?

I'm assuming I've misunderstood this. I notice that the PetStore sample has an html welcome page that links to an xhtml file, and despite being out of my depth here I'd like to get it sorted out.

Any help gratefully received.
