I am now studying to use grin. Especially, I am trying to create some BDJ menu with show file by myself referring to some sample project but it is not easy . Is there something document which concretely explains how to create show txt file?
Moreover, is there a supplementary tool such as easy editors?

Best Regards

Thank you for your help.
Bigshoe Demo seems so useful. I am going to try step by step.

I will let you know if there are any progress.

I'm also quite new to the topic but I've already found out some basic things.
What I found useful was the Bigshoe Demo and the others in the repository. I worked out
my own sample project with build file and tried to implement simple
things like pictures and boxes showing on the screen. The BNF of grin for the showfile is
good to look up the different elements. For my configuration its
path/to/HDCookbook/www/javadocs/grin/javame/com/hdcookbook/grin/doc-files/index.html.
I think you also find it somewhere on the hdcookbook website.
Then the grinviewer helps since you can see the structure of your show and you can activate / deactivate elements. I also bought the Book "Programming HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc - The HD Cookbook" where you find lots of information about this topic.

A document that gives a brief introduction how to build a skelleton or something small would be nice but I haven't found something like this yet.

Rightnow I have the problem that my Show works in the grinviewer but it doesn't start automatically. On the console there's a message:

"Going from segment null to segment $show_top$ "

followed by:

"Going from segment segment $show_top$ to segment $show_top$"

The result is, that there is nothing on the screen to see. When I activate the Initialize-Segment manually then it works just fine. Maybe anyone can help me on this.

Best Regards

Are you sure you are specifying the starting segment in the command
line that kicks this off?

For example:

java -jar GrinPlayer.jar -fps 24 -asset_dir assets -scale 2 -segment
Initialize-Segment showFile.xml

I'm using a slightly custom version of the Grin player so hopefully
all the parameters are the same.

Richard.

I used the commands from the demos for my project so I start it via Ant. The right Segment (S:Initialize) is specified.
