Hi,

I am new to Tru2Way and trying to learn how to develop Tru2Way applications. Based on the information provided by OCAP-RI Wiki site, I installed RI Simulator as an eclipse plugin and created a simple application called HelloWorld using HelloWorld template. When I ran the application first few times I was able to see the HelloWorld showing on RI Simulator consistently , but in the subsequent runs, it started throwing error messages in the console and does not show the text HelloWorld at all on the simulator. The following shows the error messages seen in the console:

INFO RI.Stack - 2687 [main] INFO hardware.HostPersistence$HostDataWriter - Initialized: org.cablelabs.impl.ocap.hardware.HostPersistence$HostDataWriter@b9ef4ce7[baseDir=/syscwd/persistent/host,prefix=hostData,lastId=0]
ERROR RI.Stack - DownloadManagerImpl_nRegisterAsync couldn't register async listener: err 0x65
ERROR RI.Stack - 2750 [main] ERROR event.SystemEventManager - Couldn't register a listener for native async CommonDownload events
ERROR RI.Stack - RRMgrImpl::nAddCallback: could not register Callback
ERROR RI.Stack - RRMgrImpl::nAddCallback: could not register Callback
ERROR RI.Stack - RRMgrImpl::nAddCallback: could not register Callback

If you could please help with this I would appreciate very much.

Thanks,
Shashi

Also, what is the contents of xait.properties?
(should be located at C:\CableLabs\tru2way\ocap-ri\ocap\bin\CableLabs\simulator\Win32\debug\env\xait.properties)

My HelloWorld xlet configuration (xait.properties) contains:

What platform/hardware are you running on? We have had intermittent problems running on i7 (quad core) platforms.

Did you try Mark's suggestion? e.g.:

"I'm not sure where the hostapp.properties file is coming from. The xait.properties file looks ok. Try removing all the .properties files in C:\CableLabs\tru2way\ocap-ri\ocap\bin\CableLabs\simulator\Win32\debug\env. Then launch the emulator again from
Workbench."

After I removed all the .properties file, when I ran the simulator from workbench, the app worked and I was able to see the HelloWorld text. But after I stopped the simulator using TWB menu and re-ran the app, nothing showed up. Again, I went and removed all the properties file and ran again and again but no luck.

Hi,

We seem to be experimenting the exact same problem, but under Windows Vista.

The HelloWorld example ran once and then no more. Same with the CirclesXlet that starts with RI.bat.

Reinstalling the "ocap-ri-tags-RI_I1_1_3_REL_A-5408-Setup" file, bring back a running CirclesXlet, but just for one...

Any news on this would be a great help !

Thanks in advance !

What revision of the SDK features and plugins do you have installed? There has been significant changes in the area of launching/terminating the RI from the SDK... Your current best bet is to use the HEAD update site (http://ri.opencable.com/sdk/updates/eclipse.3.4.2/head/).

Hi,

I am using the latest I found yesterday:

TWB-tags_Rel2-5496-Setup
ocap-ri-tags-RI_I1_1_3_REL_A-5408-Setup

With eclipse:
Version: 3.4.2
Build id: M20090211-1700

I will try with the version found in the HEAD site and let you know.

Thanks for your quick reply !

I suggest you use the packaged version - eclipse 3.4.2 is out of date. If you _have_ to use 3.4.2 then my guess is that you either are using the wrong update site or you have started with the wrong eclipse.

Hi,

What's the best way to update the plugin with this site ? (http://ri.opencable.com/sdk/updates/eclipse.3.4.2/head/).

Eclipse does not seem to recognize it has an update site...And downloading file one by one is a bit tedious....

Thanks for your tips !

Hmmmm - I started with a fresh unzip of "our" eclipse ( https://community.cablelabs.com/svn/OCAPRI/trunk/SDK/3rdParty/Eclipse/ec... ) and added the SDK via the head update site ( http://ri.opencable.com/sdk/updates/eclipse.3.4.2/head/ ) with no problems.

Your other option is to download a test installer (this isn't quite the head, but not far from it). Its available at http://ri.opencable.com/ri/builds/test/TWB-trunk-6867-Setup.exe .

I noticed that the link in your post included the trailing ')' - that URL isn't valid. Make sure you can browse to http://ri.opencable.com/sdk/updates/eclipse.3.4.2/head/ and that is the URL you reference when adding the site.

Hi,

I reinstalled everything on a Windows XP system, and all issues seem to be resolved.

Also, probably firewall issue preventing from accessing the "head" site.

Is there some plan to get the RI to work on Windows Vista ?

I will try the "TWB-trunk-6867-Setup.exe" file to see how it goes.

Thanks for your help !

Best regards

/Jean

Hi All,

Thanks for your responses.

I uninstalled everything and re-installed all the componenets based on the doc and since then it seems to be working fine.

I'm not sure where the hostapp.properties file is coming from. The xait.properties file looks ok. Try removing all the .properties files in C:\CableLabs\tru2way\ocap-ri\ocap\bin\CableLabs\simulator\Win32\debug\env. Then launch the emulator again from
Workbench.

The error that you report in your log is not causing your issues. This is a benign message that simply indicates that we have not yet implemented CommonDownload functionality in our platform or porting layers right now.

Thanks for the reply. If the error is not causing the issue, then why is the HelloWorld text not showing up. What do I need to do to get the app working and showing up properly on emulator?

Thanks,
Shashi
