Is there anyone here who knows what happended to Indie Technologies? I need particle effects in my J3D app and Genesis looks perfekt. The product is commercial, so I need the developers license but my emails to the sales team bounce, and the homepage hasn't been updated since 2007. Is the company defunct? Is there any way to get in contact with the person who own the code now?

Hi!

Maybe you can try to contact Mike directly. This is the best address I have for that:

Mike Jacobs

Last version I know of (embodied in FlyingGuns) was 1.2. Never heard of Mike since that.
Indie was a 1-man-company anyway.

Hope that helps,

- Jörg

The decision to halt Java 3D investment had a chilling effect on sales of Genesis FX. I have been surprised at the number of inquires I have received over the past few years. I have been extremely busy with a new job and a relocation since the J3D announcement. As a result, Genesis FX has not got the attention it has deserved.

I would like to offer Genesis FX 1.2 as an open source project to a willing owner. That owner would need to set up the project and run it. I unfortunately do not have the time.

If someone would like to volunteer, please contact me at mike dot jacobs at indietechnologies.com.

Thanks,
Mike

The indie technologies web site will be taken down in the next few days. However, I have moved all of the demos and source to this new location: indietechnologies.wordpress.com/. You are free to use the source as you see fit.

I trully think it is a GREAT move for java3D API.
I think java3d just always needed a good particule system.
GenesisiFx just can perhaps fill this need for java3D API.

When I see today's great video games rendering and what I can do with java3D I just always think : I my god if only java3d had a good-and-simple-to-program Particule system !

Wonderfull decision Jacobs, thanks 1000 times.

Thierry

PS: by the way I am a volontier to be part of the team for javaFx open source.
But not a leader/owner as I really do not know much about particule programing...
