Hello,
I am new to java and has written a MIDlet under Eclipse. A jar file is generated and I planned to sell it for profit.
But today I found that Java ME is released under GNU v2. Does it mean that I cannot use it for commercial use? Thanks in advance for any advice!

xuxiang,

There are two separate topics here. First, there are a number of different Java ME implementations available today, many come with commercial licenses and some are open source such as http://phoneme.dev.java.net (released under GPLv2). Second, regarding running your MIDlet on a phoneME-based platform see my blog post: http://weblogs.java.net/blog/2006/11/22/license-innovate

Hope that helps,

Hi Terrence,
Thanks a lot for the useful articles!
I just want to distribute my application in .jar and .jad file, does it mean that it's OK?
