Hello,

Has anyone tested Samsung P1600 (or others) for VFS update? I can't seem to make it work.

Testing with the ProgressivePlaylist sample, it goes through all the VFS update steps but fails for invalid playlist error. Listing of VFSRoot shows empty playlist and clipinf directories. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Vinay Agarwal

Does anyone have a VFS update sample signed with an online cert to see if it makes VFS update work on Samsung? I can't afford to pay $15,000 for online cert.

Or, can anyone build the ProgressivePlaylist sample signed with their online cert and sell the resultant "dist" folder image to me? (I suspect giving "dist" free would also not break any agreements :-) )

While we haven't tried a VFS update yet, I'm happy to note that the new generation of Samsung models (eg BD-C5500) appear to at least support BD-Live connections from BD content played from recordable media.

Cheers,
Joe

We are also having the same problem.
We developed a VFSUpdate based program, and It works well on other players(LG, Sony, Pioneer, Panassonic.. etc).

Only Samsung players(BD-P1600, BD-P3600) doesn't look like working..
(We've also tested hdcookbook test disc, and it doesn't work well as well.)

However, some commercial discs are working well, on that player.. :)
(That means the player is supporting VFS Update..)

May be there is a difference between, commercial discs and others.

I believe you can get the VFS working for your application if you generate online.sig file. That requires you to have obtained the BDA private key to generate online.sig file.

Samsung player should not mandate the presence of online.sig file, but unfortunately, this problem does not seem to be getting fixed.

It seems that Samsung player doesn't support VFS Update even with online.crt, online.sig, online.crl files.

Could there be anything that I'm missing?
