I was trying to implement the Progressive Playlist using TMT.I was able to download the bumf.xml and bumf.sf file from the server to the local storage. Streams are also getting downloaded.RequestUpdating function is not throwing any exceptions. But the I am unable to enable the clip.

But if I load the disc image to the TMT player second time(with the bumf.xml and bumf.sf files present in the local storage) , I am able to enable the clip and play it.

I think the BindingUnit is not getting updated at the first time , when we call RequestUpdating . And the second time, BindingUnit is formed with the existing bumf and signature file in the local storage when the disc is loaded itself.

Anyone have any idea what could be cause this issue ?

Are you making the requisite title change or restart to activate the
virtual package?

Once the bumf.xml and bumf.sf files are downloaded to the local storage from the server, I am calling requestUpdating of the VFS Manager. After that I am calling TitleContext.start to restart the xlet.

Joe Rice

Is the same title being restarted, and if so, is the app_restart flag
set true?

Cheers,
Joe

Hi,

i'm new to BD-J developement. I have also done an application that will read the clips from the server and play. Now i have succeeded in enabling and playing the clips by using vfs.jar that are in the disc as told in the progressive playlist.

Now i need to play the clips from the server. When i do that vfs manager throwing the PreaparingFailedException during vfs updation. Now i dont know what to do, whether to download the manifest.xml and manifest.sf from server and do vfs update OR download the bumf.xml and bumf.sf from server for vfs updation.

Now my question is, what are the files we need to have when we do VFS updation by calling requestUpdating method. (manifest or bumf). And another doubt is, can we download the subsequent clips from the server when the current clip is playing. Please help me. I have searched so many threads. But i could able to solve the issue.

Even a small hint will be appriciated. And sorry for my bad english. Waiting for anyone's response.

Thank you
