If you need an OSGI compliant JXTA-plugin, there's one at https://jxta-eclipse.dev.java.net/,
which I am maintaining. I've just started working/testing on the plugin again after an absence, so I'll be interested to know how you are faring.

Hi arbalet,
It's an interesting task. I admit that I often thought at this in the last month.

In the past someone tried to embed jxta in an applet, but, as far as I know, that attempts failed due to the restrictions of the applets themselves (no access to the filesystem etc..).
The anatomy of an Android application it's pretty similar to an applet, at least in the principles, but without the limitations in accessing the filesystem, so I think it could be quite easily done.

If I was you I would probably wait the next release of jxta, which resolves some important issues. The current release handle a sort of DB on filesystem to hold information on joined groups and discovered peers, which could be an heavy burden for a MID.

Furthermore, it seems that the next release of jxta will be OSGI compliant, which means that will be possible to enclose jxta in a bundle. I don't know how much OSGI there is in android platform, but if it is used than you could take advantage.

That's all I can say for now, if I will think at something more I will tell you.
Hope it helps.

I reccommend you to take us updated on your progress.
