Fonts in JDK 7

Did the rendering of standard fonts change in JDK 7 ? I have several applets that display text to the user in JTextArea and other components. I am noticing that some text has "..." instead of the complete word. This is happening on XP and Vista. Have never seen this before. Our applets have worked fine since JDK 1.4 until now. Any suggestions ?

I've also noticed this, although I don't think it's an issue with the fonts...

I'm working on a couple of projects using JDK 1.7 ea builds, and I 've noticed that JButton (in a JToolBar) and JTree are somehow not displaying the full length of text, but randomly truncating and adding elipses ("...").

I am using OpenSUSE 11.1 64-bit, Gnome 2.24, and the GTK Look-And-Feel.

As a workaround, I'm doing: myButton.setText("Whatever\t");

Adding the tab seems to force the JButton and JTree's TreeCellRenderer to render properly.

Additional info: I noticed that this problem is very similar to bug ID 6797139, although this is happening to more than just JButton controls.
