Hello All,

I found under security -> Realms -> admin-realm, we can create a new user and with group "asadmin". This user would have admin privilege.

I want to create a user with "Deployer" privilege only, I mean, I want to create a user for my PQM team that they can use to deploy application in sun app server but I want to restrict this user so that my PQM team can not use to modify other objects [JDBC, JMS, Security ..etc] in Sun App Server!

Regards,
Qamar

Sorry, that's not possible with 9.1.

Hi Kedar,

Thanks a lot for the response!

Do know the configuration files and data files that I should keep as backup, to revert back the changes done from console?

For example: In weblogic, If I have backup of config.xml file and ldap directory. I can revert back any changes done by any user in weblogic using console.

Thanks a lot for your help!

Regards,
Qamar

Hi Qamar,

Domain configuration information can be found under domains/domain1/config directory. The configuration file is domain.xml
However, there is an easier way for you to backup your domain, just use CLI backup-domain command.
You can run
asadmin backup-domain --help
to get more information about this command. It is very convenient and easy to use.

[i]EXAMPLES
Example 1 Using backup-domain

asadmin> backup-domain --domaindir /opt/SUNWappserver/mydomaindir domain1
Successfully backed up the domain

Description: 1137030607263
Backup Filename: /opt/SUNWappserver/mydomaindir/domain1/backups/sjsas_backup_v00001.zip
Date and time backup was performed: Wed Jan 11 17:50:07 PST 2006
Domains Directory: /opt/SUNWappserver/mydomaindir
Domain Directory: /opt/SUNWappserver/mydomaindir/domain1
Domain Name: domain1
Name of the user that performed the backup: jondoe

Anissa,

Thanks a lot for the suggestion!
Just wanted to double check, there is NO way in "Sun App Server 9.1" to configure a user with privilege less(lower) than Admin privilege?

Thanks,
Qumar
