[webtier] JSF 1.2x checkout fails

7 replies [Last post]

Hi,

I'm trying to checkout the 1.2.x Mojarra sources from CVS.
The login seems to work with java.net ID. However, the checkout
command fails with:
User jowu doesn't have access to project
javaserverfaces-sources

Is there something else besides having a java.net ID that I have to do
before I can check out the sources?

Thanks,
Jochen

So, I do:

cvs -d :pserver:jowu@cvs.dev.java.net:/cvs login
Logging in to :pserver:jowu@cvs.dev.java.net:2401/cvs
CVS password:

Entered my password, and since I don't get an error message, I think I
did spell it right.
Then:

cvs -d :pserver:jowu@cvs.dev.java.net:/cvs checkout -r
JSF_1_2X_ROLLING javaserverfaces-sources
User jowu doesn't have access to project
javaserverfaces-sources

I did request Observer status and according to my page on java.net I
got that status. I'm a bit lost here :(

No, that's all you need.

java.net has been having *horrible* problems related to JavaOne, so it
may be that.

Are you following the instructions here:

Yes. I'm following the instructions for the command line client.
I also tried to simply browse the repository with the Eclipse client,
which works, but I couldn't locate the javaserverfaces module/
directory or however it is kept in that repo.

I just did a successful checkout with:

cvs -d :pserver:driscoll@cvs.dev.java.net:/cvs checkout -r
JSF_1_2X_ROLLING javaserverfaces-sources

Is that what you are using? With, of course, your username instead of
driscoll, and also having done a cvs login in the previous command, of
course.

Does your cvs login work?

Browsing the repository is *really* not recommended, since we're talking
3500 directories (yuk), but the directory is javaserverfaces-sources, of
course.

You know, one other thing: It may be necessary to be a project
observer. I don't know - I don't think so, but javaserverfaces-sources
is a very old project, and may have that left over from years past.
Could you register as an observer? Might as well try it.

The instructions also mention the 'guest' account to avoid having to
register.

Thanks. I'd missed that and at least I can check out with it.
