I am developing RA for MM1. I would like to know :

Encoding and Decoding Of Incoming request has to be done at ResourceAdapter level in SLEE or service level?

Kindly help.

RA creates layer for SBBs - it abstracts udnerlying resources into activities and events.
For instance - famous CallRA - would convert some low level protocol for instance SS7 (this is just example) into some events and activities that can be used in Sbbs code.
So byte[] comes via socket, converted to some data structure, fired into slee.
Consider SIP ra: - encoding/decoding - jsip stack, RA code - interface with SLEE.

Hi baranowb,

thanks for the quick reply.

So just want to confirm that in MM1 RA the functionality would be reading from socket , decode the message to get the MM1 PDU m_send_req and construct an event to send the PDU.this is from network initiated.

If from SBB the flow would be to send a request with required info to RA, the RA would actaully construct the MM1 message by encoding and send.

Please suggest

Thanks & Regards
