Multiline TextField?

TextArea is by default multiline but the TextField which extends TextArea is single line. Is there any way of creating a TextField which is multiline?

The issue is that I'm working on a Form which would represent new post/message I would like to have the ability of TextField which is editable in the Form itself and I don't have to call mobile phone's native T9 editor.
Additionally, message has it's maximum length and I want to show on the Form how many characters can he add to fulfill the maximum while he's typing the message which I can't do with TextArea.

Thanks in advance, Ivan

There are several community members who implemented something like this,
however there are edge case problems reported and no one contributed a
fully working version. Since there are complex issues involved we didn't
implement this ourselves.

You can create your own control that extends Container with BorderLayout. On CENTER you will add the TextField.
That is the beggenning point.
