I would like to test update 14 with my webstart application.I'm using deployJava.js. I tried this using deployJava.js

{code}
deployJava.setEarlyAccess("true");
deployJava.EarlyAccessURL = "http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/GetFile/1.6.0_14-ea-b03/windows-i586/jre-6u14-ea-windows-i586-iftw.exe";
deployJava.installJRE("1.6.0_14)
{code}

it says : "Deployment Toolkit cannot install the requested version."

also tried
{code}
deployJava.EarlyAccessURL = "http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/GetFile/1.6.0_14-ea-b03/windows-i586/jre-6u14-ea-windows-i586-iftw-k.exe";
{code}

Is the url wrong or the version string?

Seems Java always wants you to hit the "Reinstall" button.

Then you the user should realize that java has already been installed and sensibly click the correct button. Click "cancel" for example if you are debugging a bug in an earlier release.

This feature is like the MS XP prompt to Start, Turn Off the Computer, Turn Off the Computer. If light switches were designed this way, lights would never get turned off. But then your or my precious long compiling R program that I forgot and left running in the background would have to restart.

Cheers,
Jim

Note a new update is ready B04!

First go to
https://jdk6.dev.java.net/6uNea.html

Here you will see JRE as usual then a download page for the whole thing.

I do the following
A. The "6u14-b014- 32-bit JRE offline installer"

B. For other platforms, please go to download page (see url below)
http://download.java.net/jdk6/index.html

Enjoy,

I have 6u14b02 installed. I downloaded 6u14b04 and started the install with the offline installation .exe.

A dialog popped up telling me that I already had this software installed and would I like to reinstall it.

Any comments???

I think the installer doesn't recognize the different build numbers from the same release. I just hit "reinstall".
