I am trying to download the most up to date version of Java for Windows XP SP3.
I have deleted all previous installations and have run Max Registry Cleaner.
I have also attempted to download the offline version and disconnected my firewalls.
Despite all of these attempts I continue to get the following message after the installer has been loaded:
The wizard was interrupted before Java 6 update 12 could be completely installed. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.
Any help/suggestions is appreciated.

I was afflicted with a sudden loss of Java, followed by this error message when trying to upgrade my Java. I did it all:
* disabled anti-virus and firewall, then performed manual install;
* uninstalled every Java via Add/Remove Programs;
* deleted all files/folders in Program Files\Java;
* deleted Sun folder in C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data;
* went through registry and deleted every Java setting;
* rubbed my rabbit's foot, placed a clove of garlic on my PC, sprinkled Holy Water over the keyboard;
* chased down every google thread for about 10 pages;

......all without success. I've spent days trying to solve this problem.

Then while looking at the App Data folder, I noticed that the installer is an .MSI, so remembering I'd had an install problem with some other software which involved an MSI, I downloaded and ran Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.

Problem solved.

Java installed.

Me happy.

See http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/Route_Riter/index.html#error for steps and link.

Hope this helps someone else. I posted here as it was the top "hit" on Google when searching "Wizard was interrupted Java".

-Uninstall your java.
-Reinstall it
-make sure you turn off msn, internet explorer or any open programs besides firefox
-Closing any open programs will help you install it because i haded the same problem until i closed all the programs that were open and now it worked.

I've had the same problem and tried all the "solutions" posted below without any joy. Because I never had any problem with XP and Java in the past I downloaded a previous version from here:

http://www.oldapps.com/java.php?old_java=1#Download

It installed and works fine for what I need. Hope it works for you (then you can check out some of my work below ;)

Maybe this?

http://forums.java.net/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=57556&tstart=0

And are you sure you have enough disk space?

And are you logged in with the permissions necessary?

And are you installing in the default location?

That's about all I can suggest. If none of those suggestions help, you're going to have to get help from the SUN guys.
