I tried to lunch a JWS from my Windows XP PRO SP2 desktop:
X:\jdk1.6.0_14\bin\javaws.exe "https://xxx/yyy.jnlp"

The Applet froze, and the Java console showed:

java.lang.InternalError:
****************************************************************
ERROR: the javaplugin.version system property wasn't picked up
by the com.sun.deploy.Environment class. This probably happened
because of a change to the initialization order in PluginMain
where the deployment classes are being initialized too early.
This will break jar cache versioning, and possibly other things.
Please undo your recent changes and rethink them.

The Java console showed the plugin info like:

java.vm.version = 14.0-b10
javaplugin.nodotversion = 160_14
javaplugin.proxy.config.type = direct
javaplugin.version = 1.6.0_14
javawebstart.version = javaws-1.6.0_14-ea
etc.

Is this a new bug?

Good to know it is been working on.

Maybe 6u14 is too big an update to include those bug-fixes from earlier versions?

Each following release will include all fixes from previous releases, it's just a question of which build they are going to get in.

The issue still exists under JDK 1.6.0_15.

It works very well under JDK1.6.0_07, the latest old-style version.

Let me make it clearer:

The same JWS JNLP application shortcut worked with jdk 6u7 and 6u12.

The same applet works in browsers (FF2/3, Safari3/4, Opera9) when embedded in a web page, evening using jdk 6u14.

I tried the new jdk 6u14 b02, still no luck.

The applet is developed by Sungard Banner, using Oracle Forms technology.

The whole message from java 1.6.0_14-ea concole is:
java.lang.InternalError:
****************************************************************
ERROR: the javaplugin.version system property wasn't picked up
by the com.sun.deploy.Environment class. This probably happened

It is a known issue. Bug ID: 6802069. The fix is not in 6u14 yet, but it is in 6u13. We are working on getting it in 6u14.

Thanks for reporting the issue.
