This only happens in Plugin2 and 6u14b01.

Try this applet:
http://pancyl.com/VSync.htm

Notice the frame rate. Now click inside the applet to give it focus. Notice that the frame rate slows. Now click outside the applet to blur and notice that the applet speeds up again.

Do you see it? Or is this just something that is happening on my machine.

The good news is that 6u14b01 is more than twice as fast as 6u10 on the same applet. That's really good news.

But this focus thing is weird....

Ok, I guess it's a non-issue. It's just my machine...

I can't reproduce any slowdown, but keep in mind I am running on a very crappy computer at work.

PS: What did you find out? Is it possible to do vsync under Java?

Thanks,
Gili

"Crappy Computer" is my middle name. Interesting that you couldn't see the slow down. You are using 6u14b01/Plugin2/IE6 ? I see about a 30% slowdown. Maybe it's IE6.

There is supposed to be a VSync API in development. Maybe for J7. That's all I know. I made the apple just to see what I could see. It has nothing in it that would be vertical synchronization code.
