Ideally, I need to have a mobile device, such as a cell phone, behave as a Bluetooth OBEX server..and a second device behave as a client.

Is there a java API that exposes this, and if so, where can I look??
Thank you,
-Mike

I could really recommend the book "Bluetooth Application Programming with the Java APIs ". There is a good chapter on OBEX, as well as a good introduction to the Java Bluetooth API.

Read more about the book here:

Try Chapter 20 of Jonathan Knudsen's book "Kicking butt with MIDP and MSA"
http://www.amazon.com/Kicking-Butt-MIDP-MSA-Applications/dp/0321463420/r...

The API's can be found in javax.bluetooth and javax.obex which are part of the JSR82 spec

take a look at http://www.javabluetooth.com/jsr82devices.html for an almost ancient list of device. I am sure there are more that support it now.
