TIFF Compressor Question

We work with CCITT T.6 compressed TIFF files and occasionally I’ll encounter one that has a non-baseline TIFF tag that needs to be removed for another application. I use jai-imageio to process these and seem to be getting the desired results. I create new metadata, populate a few tags from the existing metadata, and then write the image using CCITT T.6 compression. I’ve noticed the new file is usually a little larger than the original, for example 38KB versus 40KB, or 72KB versus 76KB. This size difference is no big deal but since I don’t know a great deal about different TIFF compressors and the underlying implementations I’m wondering if this is a normal result or if it could indicate something is wrong in my code. I can post a test case and image examples if needed.

Thanks!

Could be that you are changing the number of strips - a larger number
of strips will usually increase the file size.
