problem installing JDK in ubuntu release 8 (hardy)

i downloaded jdk-6u7-linux-i586.bin from the java website. and when i'm trying to ./ it, there's an error...
the error is...

Extracting…
./jdk-6u7-linux-i586.bin: line 480: ./install.sfx.18927: No such file or directory

i want to install jdk on my comp, cuz i want netbeans...and netbeans doesn't work without jdk. can anyone help??

installing it directly does not work, but

sudo apt-get install sun-java5-jdk

works!!!!

first check ........any jdk files are installed on your pc..then uninstall it....after that new version of jdk for linux download and install it..!!!!!
