There won't be a specification or API, at least any time soon. It's
merely an implementation detail (a powerful one, to be fair) used
behind the scenes in the Effects Framework.

Is JSL something like GLSL or Cg?

JSL is simliar in syntax to GLSL/HLSL/Cg, but in practice it's closer
to Cg in that it can be compiled down into various targets (GLSL,
HLSL, Java, C, etc).

i'm not sure you'll get more details on it with the release, since chris sees it more or less like a way to help the implementation than a feature per se (even though i totally understand and think it's good enough to be one). However, the code is open source. The decora (scenegraph-effects) project contains all you need to get details, albeit it's rather not the clearest way to learn about the tech.

What is it you're trying to do with ? You want a new effect ?
