Hello!

I am new to a lot of this - using Tomcat 6, Java 1.6.0_07 and have downloaded the mojarra jsf-*-1.2.9 libraries. In general everything is working, but I am seeing the following error in the log (running from within Eclipse Ganymede):

SEVERE: JSF1054: (Phase ID: RENDER_RESPONSE 6, View ID: /secure/ecobee1.jsp) Exception thrown during phase execution: javax.faces.event.PhaseEvent[source=com.sun.faces.lifecycle.LifecycleImpl@3a586d]

I am mystified - I don't know what is causing the error, and there is no stack trace or additional information available.

Is there a way to up the debugging level to get more information on what is causing the exception?

Any help and tips is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There should be a stacktrace in the log. If you post the stacktrace we might be able to offer more help.

Hi - I've looked - there is no output in the Tomcat (catalina) logs:

I think this is a Tomcat configuration issue.
Please see: http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/logging.html.

Hi Ryan:

Unsure that this is a Tomcat config issue - there are other instances of SEVERE exceptions being thrown in the logs files, and I get a stack trace for those, but I am *not* getting a stack trace from this JSF exception.

I am most stumped - any ideas?

Thanks.

I should have been more clear in that follow up. The fact that the exception isn't logged is a Tomcat configuration issue. That issue needs to be resolved before we can tackle the cause of the severe message.

Alternatively, you can try your application on GlassFish. It doesn't hide the uncaught exceptions like Tomcat appears to do.

Ryan, we started getting a similar error w/o stack trace with a new webapp release on GlassFish Enterprise Server v2.1.1 Patch03 ((v2.1 Patch09)(9.1_02 Patch15)) (build b01-p03) w/ Mojarra (1.2_13-b01-FCS), so I don't think it's a log config issue...

Can you suggest next steps to find out what the problem is?

Upon second review it's not exactly the same error sorry
