.X11-unix directory permissions
I discovered that the reason why I was requiring root privileges on RHEL5 to run the smc was the result of the permissions set on the /tmp/.X11-unix directory.
This is where the smc sockets are stored.
When I change ownership of this directory to something other than root, I get a warning at smc runtime that it should be owned by root.
When I give write access to .X11-unix to the non-roots, wonderland runs fine for a non-root.
Is there a best policy here to reduce any security risks associated with unfriendly access to this directory, rather than chmod a+w?
