Label with ticker in custom ListCellRenderer

I've made a custom ListCellRenderer component that is a Container with 2 labels and an icon. The first label is the title, the second one is the description.

I would like that the second label start it's ticker animation when the list item has focus.
I've tried with setFocusable(true) and forcing setFocus(true) on that label object without results: the label appear to be focused (it's colors are changed) but doesn't start scrolling.

How can I achieve this behaviour?

Best Regards
Fabio
