Creating my first disc using code from HDCookbook DVD

Hi all,

I'm using a Blu-Ray burner with Cyberlink PowerDVD. I also bought the HDCookbook and I have the DVD included in the book. I took the simple assumption that all I needed to do was to burn the contents of Blu-ray examples disc image folder to a blank BD-RE disc, and voila, that's all I need in order to play the example on a Blu-ray player.

Unfortunately, my PS3 recognizes the disc as a BDMV, but it is unable to play it. Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

Please try the latest build and the disc image from the hdcookbook.dev.java.net.

https://hdcookbook.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=0
https://hdcookbook.dev.java.net/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=89...

The work here originates from what's on the hdcookbook book's DVD and the example is pretty much the same as what's described in the book (well, almost, just a tiny bit more function). The code and resources on the site includes many fixes and enhancements to make it work with the latest PS/3 firmware.

Thanks,
Chihiro

Ok,

Now this is just plain frustrating. I still get the same error on my PS3.

Can anyone help? I recently got access to the Developer version of Cyberlink PowerDVD, so I'm going to try my luck with that.

Thanks,

Bruce

Ok, problem solved. I finally got my configuration to create a disc that plays on the PS3.

So what was my problem? Cyberlink Power2Go (the DVD burning software) has a config parameter that needs to be set before you burn the disc. The default file system type for Power2Go is "ISO9660/Joilet" -- which doesn't work. You need to change the file system type to "UDF 2.5".

After that, everything works perfectly.

Cheers!
