Hi all,

I am a beginner JavaME developer. I am developing a MIDP app, that pulls data from the server. As per my requirement, the communication between the client and the server should be secure. Here, I have 2 basic doubts..
1. Can I use VPN and let my mobile enter into my private LAN? If yes, can I assign private IP address to my mobile(that is persistent).
or
2. Is it better to use Https connection? How fast it will be in case of multiple clients?

which is the better, and efficient way to communicate?
if VPN is the option, can I get any goto document on VPN Configuration. Do I need any certificates to use VPN?

Thanks,
Hari.

If you are interested in VPN configurations you better check this site at http://vpnomania.com/proxy-surf.html/%22%3Eproxy%3C/a%3E, because it tells how to make your internet serving private and anonymous! Good luck!

hri515,

Sorry for the slow reply - you've posted your question in the wrong forum. Should be in the Application Developer Interest forum.

Anyway, to answer your questions:

1. VPN is not a function of Java ME. If you can establish a VPN connection between device and server then Java ME will be able to use it.

2. Using HTTPS for secure communications on Java ME is very common and works well. There have been multiple threads on the subject in the community. You can also check our wiki for more information

Hope this helps,
