I simply need a way to install and use the libraries of ImageIO onto our HP mainframe, which runs on the HP-UX operating system.

More specifically, I am trying to tap into the ability to decode TIFF images in order to write a program to view scanned document images.

We have GUI capabilities using the language BBj and connecting remotely to our mainframe via Java Webstart sessions. All I need is the ability to utilize ImageIO.read() and ImageIO.write() for TIFF and JPEG.

How should I go about getting ImageIO installed on HP-UX?

ImageIO itself is part of the JDK that should be available for HP-UX.
JAI-ImageIO plugin for TIFF codecs is just a jar that has to be in
the classpath. However I'm not yet aware of native support for
HP-UX.
