Bitmap font not painted on nokia 6500 classic & slide

Hi,

Are there any known issues for bitmap font rendering? On our nokia
6500c and 6500 slide our font is invisible, the same application
renders them correctly on N95 and SE850i, 660i
But the lwuit demo app bitmap font renderes correctly on all...

Francis

Hi Francis,
we noticed this occuring on some S40 Nokia devices in some
applications. Surprisingly this doesn't happen at all in the LWUIT
Demo and often this problem goes away every now and again.
Frankly, I am stumped about this issue and open for ideas...

Thanks,
Shai.

The issue mentioned in the forum and elsewhere was resolved by Chen and myself the other day.
The S40 device seems to have an issue with reading some PNG files generated by the resource editor specifically for the purpose of generating the font bitmap. So to solve this problem completely we will need to provide a new version of the resource editor.
However... This issue doesn't exist in the Ant task used to generate resources and since this Ant task is leveraged by the LWUIT demo the S40 problems didn't show up there.

The current workaround is to use Ant to generate fonts, we will try to release a drop when we can there are many issues and regressions so this isn't very simple.

To read more about the Ant task follow the developers guide and check out the build.xml for the LWUIT Demo, you can still use the resource editor. You won't need to recreate fonts (only resave the file) when the new version is published.

Thanks,
Shai.
