Hi Gents,

I'm a C++ programmer, but recently dived into BD-J (I have to, because my boss want BD-J:) ).

There are so many specs involved in BD-J specifications and I just got lost. Could you let me know what you think is the good point to start BD-J learning? Or specifically, what's the point that you start BD-J development?

Hi szmarine,

I would advise you to look into it :

(official) White paper
● Connected Device Configuration (CDC) 1.0 or 1.1 (JSR-36/218)
● Foundation Profile (FP) 1.0 or 1.1 (JSR-46/219)
● Personal Basis Profile Specification (PBP) 1.0 or 1.1 (JSR-129/217)
● May be implemented on Personal Profile (PP) 1.0 or 1.1 (JSR-62/216)
● Java TV™ 1.1 (JSR-927)
● Net : Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE) for CDC 1.0 or SecOp for CDC/FP 1.1

To understand how it works, + samples etc.

Blu-ray programming
and the book (I'll buy it very soon) "Programming HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc" by Michael Zink, Philip C Starner, Bill Foote

Lots of links here :

And on this forum, how to start a project with netbeans, eclipse, what tools to simulate (and who to contact) etc.

Hi gent2k7,

Many thanks for the reply with detailed links. I will read these stuffs, and I'm sure that later I can have more professional questions to this forum rather than basic ones:)
