Persisten storage ( BUDA ) how can we control it?

Hi all,

Today the following question popped up - how can we erase content from BUDA if the player has no specific option in it's system menu ( like the PS3 )? Are we allowed by using our application to erase everything that has been saved on the BUDA? Or does the player, when seeing that here is no sufficient space to perform a task, erases as much data as it needs?

Any info on this will be greatly appreciated.

The quick version is that you can erase anything you put there (eg in
your organization-dependent or disc-dependent directories), but not
files put there by others (eg in somebody else's organization-
dependent directory). The corollary to that is that you can obtain
credentials from other organizations to get write access to their
directories, but I don't know how common that will be.

It's mostly up to the player how to manage files in the BUDA. I'd be
surprised to find (at least a hardware) player that didn't have some
kind of interface for deleting files. It's a good idea to include
DeleteDescription elements in your BUMF as well as disc library
metadata to allow players to indicate what files belong to your discs.

Cheers,
Joe
