My system is OS X 10.4.11 running on Intel chip

ip-89-103-132-47:~/Documents/projectJFX goddard$ javafx -version
java version "1.5.0_13"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_13-b05-241)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_13-121, mixed mode)

You forgot the attachment, plus your system could really use an upgrade.
IMO, OS X 10.5 is worth every penny, especially if you have an
external drive you can use with Time Machine for automatic backups.
Once you have 10.5 you can then upgrade to Java 6, which is much faster.
