Plugin2, separate_jvm, and the background color.

When you close a page with an applet created with the "separate_jvm" param, for a moment the applet goes completely white. For large applets on a black page, this results in an annoying flash. Could the color be set to "boxbgcolor" (which I have set to black) instead of white?

On a slower machine (like mine) you also see that same flashing on startup if you are overriding the default "Come up and see me sometime" Java splash screen.

For example: if you set the image parameter to black.gif -- where black.gif is just an applet sized black rectangle -- you will see a white flash as the JVM progresses through the loading process from showing the splash screen to starting the applet even if boxbgcolor is set to black. I filed a bug report about this some months ago.

I agree completely that boxbgcolor should be used for all the background colors of all the parents of the applet. That way there will a more smooth transition from JVM start to applet start.

Agreed. We are still trying to figure out exactly what is causing this flash. It is being tracked under 6673601. We fixed some flickering recently for build 23 but still haven't gotten to the bottom of this.
