When I do "java -version" as reported below, the last line "Java HotSpot" makes me wonder. What should that last line say? My problem is with the b-11 (should it be b21 instead?) but I also wonder about the whole build string.

C:\PROGRA~1\JAVA>java -version
java version "1.6.0_10-beta"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_10-beta-b21)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 11.0-b11, mixed mode, sharing)

FYI. Windows XP, SP1. Three instances of java.exe found. My PC is clean of any earlier versions of java. Version information from the exe file.

Hi Jim,

Java HotSpot(TM) has decoupled its version from JRE. Therefore, you see the difference.

Size on disk: 132 KB (135,168 bytes)

Hotspot now uses different versioning scheme (since they use the same binary
for different releases). It's confusing, I know.
